Mark Kassirer CFA, B.Sc. (Hons.), MBA Chief Executive Officer
Mark has over 40 years experience in financial markets in a wide range of activities including investing, trading, investment banking, risk management, and administration. Prior to his career as a hedge fund manager, Mark was President and CEO of Deutsche Bank Securities Canada Limited, where he had responsibility for equity sales, research and trading, fixed-income sales and trading, investment banking including corporate finance and mergers and acquisition businesses, and finance and operations. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Mark was Executive Vice-President of Burns Fry Limited where he had responsibility for all fixed- income sales, trading, and research including bond, money market, futures, securitization, repo and securities borrowing and lending operations, with employees and offices across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Asia. As a member of the executive committee, Mark was also Chairman of the Risk Management Committee.
Tyler Vaughan, CFA Chief Investment Officer
Tyler joined Kassirer Asset Management in 2010. Tyler has over 15 years of experience in the financial industry in investing, trading, credit, banking, and hedge fund management. Tyler joined Wells Fargo Bank as a Securitization Analyst in 2000 and was promoted to Senior Analyst within 2 years. His responsibilities included providing market research to the pricing desk, originators, underwriters and securitization teams. After successfully completing WFB’s intensive 18-week training program in 2004, Tyler performed buy-side Investment Analysis for the Bank’s US$2 Billion Proprietary High Yield Bond Portfolio. In 2005 Tyler returned to Toronto performing sell-side research for Royal Bank of Canada’s Debt Capital Markets group prior to joining Chapelgate Asset Management as a Senior Analyst to advise their Credit Opportunities Hedge Fund investing in distressed CLO equity, CDOs, RMBS and structured notes.
Parth Patel, CPA, CA, CFA Portfolio Manager
Parth joined Kassirer Asset Management in 2015. Parth has over 5 years of financial services experience performing a variety of functions, including investing, trading, investment banking, risk management and auditing. Parth began his career in Deloitte’s Audit practice with a focus on financial services clients. He subsequently transferred to Deloitte’s Financial Advisory practice, where he assisted with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, capital raises, and business valuation mandates across a broad range of industry sectors. Parth holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and a CFA Charterholder.
